We have a diverse and changing congregation. Come for a visit if you are in the area, or come for a lifetime..

Proclaiming God's Love
We serve one of the poorest areas of the West Midlands. Nearby Dudley Road is the shopping hub for the communities of Smethwick, Winson Green and Rotton Park. These are some of the most diverse areas of the UK, with people from many lands, speaking many tongue, and following many faiths. Our presence alone tells them all, that God is with them.

Socially active
For more than a century our church has been at the heart of a changing community. We host a centre for rough sleepers, a Spanish speaking church and a project which uses scripture as the basis to learn English as a second language.
We meet each Sunday at 11.00 am. Most of our services are led by our Minister and lay preachers based at the church.

A church where you can fit in
We know that very few people visiting our church come "ready made". We are all at different stages in our lives and spiritual journey. Some want to sit quietly at the back and enjoy the fellowship, music and message. Others want to know more about how they can grow as a Christian, to learn more about the faith. Wherever you are on your journey, you are welcome, there's a place for you here.

A place to grow
Our church is led by a small team that have welcomed hundreds of people from all over the world. We know that our congregation will grow and then decline as people move in and out of Birmingham and the Black Country. Some stay for their lifetimes, others move on. Former members of City Road Methodist Church have grown into full time Ministers, local or lay preachers whilst undertaking another professional life, Christian writers, musicians, and even a hymn writer.
Our Calling
The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God's love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission
It does this through:

The Church exists to increase awareness of God's presence and to celebrate God's love
Learning and Caring
The Church exists to help people to grow and learn as Christians, through mutual support and care
Service
The Church exists to be a good neighbour to people in need and to challenge injustice
Evangelism
The Church exists to make more followers of Jesus Christ
